Fish Sandwiches with Lemon-Dill Aioli recipe

1 cup mayonnaise
½ medium lemon, juiced
1 clove garlic, minced
2 teaspoons chopped fresh dill, or to taste
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon chili powder
½ tablespoon garlic powder
¾ teaspoon dried thyme
¾ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
4 (4 ounce) tilapia fillets
4 each sandwich buns, split and toasted

Directions

  1. Combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic, dill, cayenne, salt, and pepper for aioli in a bowl. Let flavors mingle for at least 10 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, combine chili powder, garlic powder, thyme, cayenne, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Sprinkle a little of the seasoning mixture over each side of the tilapia.

  3. Place a medium to large pan on the stovetop over medium heat. Add just enough olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan and allow oil to heat, 1 to 2 minutes. Add fish to the hot oil and cook until it flakes easily with a fork, 3 to 4 minutes on each side.

  4. Spread a little aioli onto each half of the toasted buns. Place cooked fish on the bottom half, top with remaining half. Serve with extra aioli on the side.
