Combine chocolate wafer crumbs, confectioners' sugar, pecans, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup rum in a bowl. Mix with your hands until ingredients are well combined, mixture will be stiff and sticky.
Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls. Dip each ball in remaining rum and roll in coconut flakes.
Cover and refrigerate until firm, 8 hours to overnight. Roll in more coconut just before serving, if desired.
